Peabody to build Bexley homes

Housing association Peabody has received permission from Bexley Council to build the first 1,500 homes in the £1bn regeneration of South Thamesmead, in south-east London. Peabody plans 20,000 homes in a masterplan area, bigger than Old Oak Common and Nine Elms combined.

Moto plans M3 services area

A new M3 services area is in the works for Basingstoke, Hampshire, after Moto Hospitality asked Basingstoke and Deane Council for scoping permission on a 13.5-acre site by junction 6. Moto operates 58 service stations across the UK but new locations are rare owing to difficulties in finding land and gaining approval.

Another hire for Carter Jonas

Carter Jonas has appointed Dudley Holme-Turner from Cushman & Wakefield as partner and national head of valuations, as part of a restructure. He joins recent hires Peter Fry from Vail Williams as partner and head of the commercial valuation team in Oxford and Bruce Allen from Deloitte as partner and head of valuations in Leeds.

Wilmott to build in Woking

Wilmott Residential’s brand Prime Place has won permission from Woking Council for a three-tower scheme with 560 flats, 107,000 sq ft of offices, shops and a gym. It leaves Wilmott Residential with a pipeline of 7,500 homes under construction or waiting to be developed.

Maven buys Glasgow project

Maven Property has bought Douglas House in Waterloo Street, Glasgow, from Citruz AG for £10m and intends to turn it into a 129-bedroom hotel. Maven will fund the deal with a £5m equity fundraising through its Investor Partners, and a £5m development loan. Macbeth Property Consultants, Cushman & Wakefield and DWF advised Maven.
