L&Q names new group director

L&Q has appointed City Hall’s Fiona Fletcher-Smith as its group director for development and sales. Fletcher-Smith is currently executive director of development, enterprise and environment at the Greater London Authority. She will replace Jerome Geoghegan.

1,000 new homes planned for Barking

Weston Homes is to submit plans this summer for a £300m, 1,000-home, mixed-tenure scheme in Barking, north London, after acquiring a six-acre site from Estates & Agency Properties. It will be one of the largest schemes submitted so far to Be First, the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham’s pioneering urban regeneration company.

Ericsson makes move to Reading

Telecoms giant Ericsson will move its UK headquarters from Guildford Business Park, Surrey, to Thames Tower in Reading after signing a deal for 37,600 sq ft over three floors, at £38 per sq ft. Parkinson Holt and JLL advised Landid and Brockton; Cushman & Wakefield acted for Ericsson.

Green light for Milburngate

Durham City Council has granted planning permission for the first phase of the £160m Milburngate development. Joint venture partners Arlington Real Estate and the Richardson family will deliver the mixed-use scheme in Durham, which will include about 150,000 sq ft of office space and 291 flats.
