Raft of deals at Ebbsfleet
Land Securities has completed three major deals at its 15,000-home Ebbsfleet Garden City project in Kent. Taylor Wimpey has bought 539 residential plots at Castle Hill, one of three planned villages in the Eastern Quarry development, while Henley Camland has bought the two other villages of 4,700 homes. Countryside has also taken 500 homes at Springhead Park.
Homes planned for green belt
Some 270,000 houses have been granted planning permission on the green belt, according to research from the Campaign to Protect Rural England. This is an increase of 50,000 from the figure for March 2015 and nearly 200,000 more than in March 2012.
Westferry revamp approved
The redevelopment of Westferry Printworks, E14, by media tycoon Richard Desmond’s property subsidiary has been approved by London deputy mayor for policy and planning Sir Edward Lister. The 722-home, £500m scheme proposed by Northern & Shell Investments No 2 was called in by mayor Boris Johnson in February following a request from the developer.
Shell to close three UK offices
Shell is closing offices in Reading, Aberdeen and Manchester after its takeover of oil and gas exploration firm BG Group. The oil giant will shut its 30,000 sq ft office at Brabazon House near Manchester Airport, Albyn Place in Aberdeen, and the
BG Thames Valley Park campus as it cuts 10,000 jobs worldwide.
Nine Elms resi plan approved
L&Q and Bellway have won planning permission for a 357-home development in Nine Elms from Wandsworth Borough Council. The site at 46 Ponton Road, SW8, sits next to 510 homes Bellway is building at its The Residence scheme.
