Manchester City Council has approved plans for the redevelopment of Redfern, a Grade II listed former warehouse and office building within Hermes Investment Management’s NOMA site.
Redfern, a redbrick Dutch modernist building, will include more than 50,000 sq ft of grade-A office space across six floors alongside a new roof terrace. Like the rest of the 20-acre NOMA development, it will target tech and creative occupiers.
An additional 7,600 sq ft of retail and leisure space will also be included on the ground floor of the development, designed by architects Sheppard Robson.
NOMA will deliver 2.5m sq ft of office space in Manchester. Hermes secured Amazon as a tenant at its 90,000 sq ft Hanover building last year in a deal that sees WeWork subletting part of the space from the e-commerce giant.
Stephen Bradley, senior asset manager at Hermes, said: “The go-ahead for Redfern’s redevelopment underlines Manchester City Council’s continued confidence in our vision for NOMA. There is now real momentum behind the neighbourhood, with Amazon moving into nearby Hanover.”
Colliers International and JLL are retained office agents. Lambert Smith Hampton and Colliers are retained retail and leisure agents.
