Next sees surge for in-store sales

Bricks and mortar have proven to be surprisingly successful for Next.

The fashion retailer said a “renaissance” in the popularity of its physical stores would push profit £10m higher than expectations.

For six years there has been a decline in sales at Next’s stores. It had expected that trend to continue this summer, but instead in-store sales were 12% higher than they were in the same period last year and were 4.7% ahead of 2019.

It is now predicting full-year profit of £860m. The chain has 498 shops.
