Next stage of £100m Falkirk scheme proceeds with new agreement

Hargreaves Land and Fintry Estates have signed a new development agreement with Falkirk Council for the next phase of a £100m mixed-use project.

The agreement will enable the jv to submit a planning application later this year for a 27-acre residential and commercial scheme at Falkirk Gateway.

The phase will include more than 120,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, 100 new homes, a pub or restaurant and a 120-bedroom hotel.

The site is located to the east of the town, adjacent to the new Forth Valley College and Falkirk Stadium.

If the plans are approved, on-site work is expected to start in the second half of 2024 with works completing in 2026.

Duncan McEwan, director at Fintry Estates, said the jv is “investing in the area and contributing to another significant chapter in the town’s long and illustrious history”.

David Anderson, group property director at Hargreaves Land, said the agreement allows the jv’s “ambitious plans” to move to the next phase.

Falkirk Council leader Cecil Meiklejohn said: “This is a significant step forward for the economic regeneration of the Falkirk area and brings massive investment as well as hundreds of jobs.

“It will transform an area that has been empty for many years and we look forward to seeing the delivery of the project by 2026.”

Biggart & Co is advising the developer.
