NHS Pensions is poised to take 26,500 sq ft at BBC Pension Fund’s Meridien House in Watford, which has stood empty since completion two years ago.
It is taking the ground and first floors of the 61,000 sq ft (5,700 sq m) block on Clarendon Road, where the passing rent is £24.50.
Last year saw only one deal of over 5,000 sq ft on the road, the Hertfordshire town’s prime office location, where speculative development has ground to a halt.
However, a sizeable letting at Meridien is likely to change this, as there would then be no grade A office space of over 40,000 sq ft in one building in the town centre.
