Ninjas take over Chelmsford retail warehouse

Schroders Capital has let 25,000 sq ft at the Meadows Retail Park to Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Park on a 15-year lease.

The family obstacle course concept – Inspired by the ITV show of the same name – will be operated by Prime Leisure Group, which has three other venues in the UK, in Watford, Chatham and Guildford. In total, there are 17 other Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Parks across the UK.

In 2019, Schroders Capital agreed a 15-year lease with Ninja Warrior UK for 30,000 sq ft at Chatham Waterside in Kent.

The addition of Ninja Warrior UK to the Meadows is part of a comprehensive reimagining of the site, including a £3m reconfiguration of the former 24,750 sq ft Argos, creating space for PureGym, TGI Fridays and Cosy Club.

Following the letting to Ninja Warrior UK, the asset will be 98% let.

Tom Woolven, investment manager at Schroders, said: “We are delighted that Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Park has selected the Meadows as its first location in Essex. It is testament to our team’s relationship with Prime Leisure Group that it has once again chosen a well-performing Schroders Capital Real Estate Fund asset as a home for one of its flagship leisure operators.
