Nobu unveils plans for £360m Manchester development

Nobu Hospitality and property developer Salboy & Betfred has announced plans for a major £360m development in Manchester.

Subject to planning approval, the Viadux 2 scheme will comprise two towers – one of which will stand at 246m, making it the UK’s tallest building outside London.

The 76-storey tower will include 160 hotel rooms, event spaces, and a Nobu restaurant and bar.

The development will also include 452 Nobu residences, marking the brand’s entry into the UK’s luxury real estate market.

Founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, the brand opened its first Nobu Hotel in Las Vegas in 2013. Since then it has expanded to 46 hotels and 20 residences.

Trevor Horwell, chief executive officer of Nobu Hospitality, said: “We are proud to include Manchester in our global collection, with its vibrant culture and growing global status. Strong partnerships are essential to our success, and with Salboy, we have the best-in-class partners with a solid reputation and a world-renowned vision”.

“Manchester is home to world-class developments, a thriving culinary scene and a growing demand for high-end lifestyle experiences. None of our locations are cookie-cutter; we wholeheartedly embrace the spirit of each destination.”

Simon Ismail, co-founder of Salboy & Betfred, said: “This £360m deal for Nobu Manchester will take the city to new heights in terms of service, cuisine and experience.”
