Nod for Leicester Square hotel

Plans for a new 142-bedroom hotel on Leicester Square, WC2, have been approved.

Criterion Capital has got the green light from Westminster city council to convert the ground to ninth floor of 1-4 Leicester Square into a hotel.

The upper floors of the 1930s building are currently used as offices and a nightclub.

The new Proun-designed proposals also comprise restaurant use on the ground and first floors.

No hotel operator has been named for the West End site, but Ibis is understood to have been lined up.
