North needs £6.7bn for rail link

Council leaders in the north have demanded £6.7bn to fund the proposed HS3 rail link, which would create a high speed link from Hull to Liverpool.

Prime minister David Cameron will unveil the plans today with chancellor George Osborne in Leeds. He will also announce the creation of a new body, Transport for the North, which will run along similar lines to Transport for London.
