North West developer backs mental health charity

North West housing developer Mulbury has backed construction mental health charity Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity with a £2,000 annual donation.

The pledge comes as the charity, which provides financial and mental health support to construction workers and their families, reported a 56% rise in calls to its helpline over the past year.

Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity relies on the industry to support it, and uses funds to run its 24-hour helpline and create mental health resources for construction workers.

Mulbury chief executive Greg Mulligan said that the company is making mental health “a top priority” and urged the industry to do its bit to help de-stigmatise the issue.

He added: “Being a predominantly male industry focused on manual labour, physical health is very much on the construction sector’s radar, yet while mental health is a growing concern, it often takes a back seat.”
