Multi-million-pound plans to transform Northampton from a market town into a “market city” will be revealed next week.
Northampton’s borough and county councils, Northampton Enterprise and West Northamptonshire Development Corporation hope to create 5.4m sq ft of mixed-use space in the town.
The phased project will include the redevelopment of Legal & General’s 30,000 sq ft Grosvenor shopping centre, a quarter in the St John’s area, a residential and employment waterside area, regeneration of the rundown Spring Boroughs area and redevelopment of the town’s railway station and its surrounding area.
