Skill shortages in manufacturing among Northern businesseshave reached a crisis, says the latest Business Survey North,published today.
Shortages in manufacturing are at an “alarming level” with almost half of the companies surveyed saying they had problems. The survey also shows: UK sales continuing to improve; plant and machinery investment remains high; building investment shows steady growth. Employment suffered a setback, say the researchers, with small job gains among manufacturers outweighed by service sector jobs losses.
