Northern Ireland IDB revives £157m talks for Hualon investment

Northern Ireland’s Industrial Development Board (IDB) confirmed preliminary negotiations were under way with Taipei-based textile manufacturer Hualon. The IDB is trying to salvage one of the largest investments ever secured in the province.

The £157m investment was suspended in 1994 amid a legal challenge and financial problems affecting the group’s parent company. Hualon said it was committed to Northern Ireland.
