MIPIM 2012: Government support for the Northern Line extension will drive investor interest in Battersea Power Station, the leader of Wandsworth council said today.
“We’re on the brink of a sale of the site which will determine its value in the current market,” Ravi Govinda told EGi. “And it will establish what further value can be added to it. We’ll see the emergence of real contenders with real money and vision for the area.”
Pointing to previous failed development plans for the site, he said: “No one will want to be a fourth time failure.”
Knight Frank began marketing the site last week and is already thought to have received interest from around the world.
Helen Fisher, the newly appointed director of Vauxhall Nine Elms, which released an updated fly-through video this week, said the Northern Line extension, the decommissioning of gasholders and support from the Greater London Authority and Transport for London had made the site a much better bet than it had been in the past.
