Northern Trust unveils Pontins proposals

Trevor Hemmings’ Northern Trust has unveiled plans to redevelop a former Pontins site in Hemsby, Norfolk.

As part of the scheme, Northern Trust will deliver 191 homes, as well as public open spaces and a care home on the site.

The recently submitted planning application for the development, called Kingsway Village Garden, was formally accepted by Great Yarmouth council this week.

Plans to build all homes on the 22-acre site had previously been rejected by councillors. The council had wanted a mixed-use, leisure-led scheme, comprising about 130 homes and a 100-unit caravan site.

This is the second Pontins site Northern Trust is converting into a residential development. Last year it was given the go-ahead to build 275 homes on a 38-acre plot in Blackpool.

Pontins collapsed into administration in November and was rescued by Britannia Hotels at the beginning of the year.

Northern Trust also announced that it had expanded its portfolio in Scotland with the acquisition of 16,000 sq ft of industrial space at Houston Industrial Estate in Livingston.
