A Norwegian property magnate whose wife disappeared in an apparent kidnapping 18 months ago has been arrested on suspicion of planning her murder.
Tom Hagen was detained by police yesterday as he drove to his office. His wife, Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, vanished from the couple’s home in the village of Fjellhamar, near Oslo, last October.
Hagen said he had come home to find the house deserted and a letter demanding an £8m ransom.
Hagen is one of Norway’s wealthiest people, with a £150m property fortune.
