Nottingham names Bishop new corporate director for development

 


David Bishop 200pDavid Bishop has been appointed as Nottingham city council’s corporate director for development.


 


Bishop’s appointment is permanent and will replace interim director Jennifer Dearing, who has been filling the position for the past 18 months.


 


The former strategic director for city development at Bristol city council will join the corporate leadership team in Nottingham at the end of May and will be responsible for the council’s entire development directorate, which includes: PFI initiatives and major transport projects such as the redevelopment of the city’s main railway station and the NET tram extension. Bishop will also be responsible for the director for planning and major programmes and director for property.


 


Jane Todd, chief executive at Nottingham council said: “David brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and he joins the council at an exciting time with a number of major projects coming to fruition such as the planned extensions to the tram network and the redevelopment of the station. Our sincere gratitude goes to Jennifer Dearing for covering this role over the last 18 months.”


 


Bishop, who was previously a strategic director in South Wales for five years, has worked in Bristol since March 2005 and has overseen a number of major transport projects, including the Greater Bristol Bus Network and Rapid Transit, and regeneration projects such as Hengrove Phase One.
