A package of six Nottinghamshire county council care homes is set to be sold to Runwood Homes for £1.9m.
As part of the proposed deal, the care homes group has also pledged to invest £3m in the buildings.
The properties are located in Bramcote, Carlton, Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, West Bridgford and Worksop.
Selling the homes would unlock at least £9.4 million in savings over the next five years for the council, it claimed.
The proposal will be considered on 22 September and a sale could be completed in January 2012.
