The Commission for the New Towns has sold the freehold of the Eastgate International Shopping Centre in Basildon, Essex, to Norwich Union for around £18m.
The centre consists of 620,000 sq ft of retailing floorspace and a 1,000-space multi-storey car park.
Norwich Union partnered the Basildon Development Corporation in the funding of the second phase of the centre.
