Oberschneider acquires Oxfordshire hotel

Paul Oberschneider, a real estate developer in Central and Eastern Europe, has purchased the Weston Manor Hotel in Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire, from the owners of the business, Lise and Dudley Osborn.

Oberschneider is understood to have acquired the hotel off a guide price of £3.85m. He will continue to run it as a wedding and conference venue. A spa, pool and tennis courts are planned, as well as a general refurbishment.

Oberschneider went to Eastern Europe in 1992 where he developed a portfolio of retail and hypermarkets covering seven countries, as well as the Schlössle Hotel Group of four boutique hotels in Estonia, Latvia and Poland.

Oberschneider said: “The decision to purchase the Weston Manor Hotel was based on the right combination of commercial conditions for a sale, the fact that my wife and I love the Oxford area and the potential to redevelop and brand this wonderful old hotel. The property has great historical pedigree, and refurbishing older period buildings is a passion of mine – as are art, antiques and food – so it was a great opportunity to bring it all together again.”

Knight Frank acted for the vendor.
