EG Workplace Summit: Corporate occupiers must prioritise investment in millennials to avoid making mistakes with technology, according to a partner Deloitte Real Estate.
Chris Lewis, head of occupier advisory at Deloitte, said the “millennial factor” was unavoidable because they will make up 75% of the workforce by 2025. Speaking at the EG Workplace Summit, he described a juxtaposition between “trust and trend” because of the disparity in age between boardroom members and their younger employees.
He said: “The expectation around what the function of workplace is and also what the talent within that space are expected to do is really quite distant as a concept to a lot of the leadership in big corporates.”
But businesses that had already gone through the “trauma” of dealing with the fast pace of technology and failing to invest quickly enough were likely to be more up to speed, he added.
