ODPM figures show increase in UK housebuilding

Housebuilding in Britain went up by 7% in January when compared to the same period last year, according to monthly government figures published today.

The Office for the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) said that an estimated 12,800 dwellings were started in England and 9,500 were completed, while in Great Britain 15,900 were started and 12,100 completed.

After next month, the ODPM plans to publish housing starts and completions quarterly to give a better impression of trends in housebuilding.
