Ofwat COO joins GPA to lead transformation programme

The Government Property Agency has hired the chief operating officer of Ofwat to strengthen its executive team as it seeks to deliver the largest workplace transformation programme in the country.

Lisa Commane brings more than two decades of experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She will begin her new role at the end of October.

As COO, Commane will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of the GPA’s programme and overseeing corporate services, including teams working across commercial operations, data and technology systems, security, planning and performance, HR and legal as well as marketing and communications.

Commane trained in accountancy at KPMG before working at Deloitte and Coventry City Council. She is a board member at the MHA, the UK’s largest charitable provider of care for older people.

She joins the GPA as it leads a workplace transformation programmes to deliver a smaller, better-connected and better-quality greener estate to support the civil service and bring teams closer to the communities they serve. Since launching in April 2018, the GPA has taken responsibility for around 10m sq ft of the government’s portfolio.
