Ogilvy to dock at Sea Containers

Ogilvy & Mather is nearing the end of an exhaustive search for a 200,000 sq ft headquarters after identifying Sea Containers House, SE1, as a preferred option.

The advertising giant has yet to agree heads of terms with building owner Archlane, but is now targeting it over Resolution’s Triton Court, EC2, the alternative option on its final shortlist.

O&M has spent years scouring the market for a move away from Canary Wharf after two decades on the Docklands estate.

The company came close to agreeing a prelet for Westminster Place, SE1, with Delancey and SWIP early last year but the deal folded and the company was forced to launch a new search.

It also looked closely at Sellar Properties’ The Place – nicknamed the Baby Shard – and Elizabeth House, both on the South Bank.

Sea Containers House, which is being refurbished by Archlane’s asset manager Deerbrook, will provide a 358-bed hotel and 300,000 sq ft of office space.

The refurbishment is due to complete later this year.

O&M’s lease at 10 Cabot Square, E14, expires in 2016.

James Andrew International and Cushman & Wakefield are advising Ogilvy & Mather; Deloitte and Jones Lang LaSalle are letting agents on Sea Containers House.
