Ogilvy under offer for Sea Containers prelet

Ogilvy & Mather has gone under offer to prelet the bulk of office space at Sea Containers House on the South Bank, SE1.

The advertising giant has gone under for the 225,000 sq ft North building at the SE1 development, which is being refurbished by Archlane’s asset manager, Deerbrook.

A rent of close to £50 per sq ft is understood to have been agreed.

The deal comes after advanced negotiations between Ogilvy and Archlane were entered in April.

Ogilvy has spent years scouring the market for a move away from Canary Wharf after two decades on the Docklands estate.

It has previously looked at relocating to Westminster Place and The Place, both SE1, but no deals were agreed.

On completion in early 2014, Sea Containers House will provide a 360-bed hotel and 290,000 sq ft of office space.

Ogilvy’s lease at 10 Cabot Square, E14, expires in 2016.

James Andrew International and Cushman & Wakefield are advising Ogilvy & Mather; Deloitte Real Estate and Bluebook are letting agents on Sea Containers House.

The move comes as sportswear maker Puma entered negotiations to take around half of the 65,000 sq ft South building at Sea Containers House.
