CLI Dartriver has lodged plans for the refurbishment and extension of a City of London office block, part of which was recently vacated by WeWork.
The investor-developer wants to add new terraces and a rooftop pavilion with extra office space to 120 Old Broad Street, EC2.
The building was built in 1993 and comprises 48,869 sq ft of office and retail space across seven storeys – two floors of which were run by WeWork until last year. The plans would also see CLI Dartriver replace the façade and windows.
“The existing building comprises features and components which are not suited to the requirements of modern office occupiers,” said planning documents from Ben Adams Architects, which designed the fresh proposals.
“Interventions are required to be competitive within the market and attract tenants. Examples of the issues that require improvement include poor natural lighting, lack of external amenity, low-quality office space and lack of visual connection to the street between the inside and outside at ground level.”
CLI Dartriver was established in early 2020, when former GPE directors Neil Thompson and Ben Chambers brought their Dartriver London together with Conren Land and Indigo Invest.
