Plans for a £100m mixed-use regeneration project on the edge of Oldbury town centre in Sandwell, West Midlands are to be re-submitted two years after gaining initial consent.
Retail and shopping park owner, The Junction, will re-submit its planning application for the £100m scheme, which will see a 32 acre site transformed into an extensive mixed use retail and leisure complex.
Following a lengthy consultation period with the local council, The Junction has tweaked its plans to rebalance the scheme’s retail mix, which will now include a mix of bulky goods stores with national retailers, sports facilities with football pitches, bars and restaurants and offices.
Increased prominence of leisure facilities and better linkage to the town centre are also being provided.
Ian Harris, director of development at The Junction, said: “The re-submission for planning consideration is in response to changes in the national retail market, and our planned amendments support the deliverability of this regeneration proposal for Oldbury.”
Work will start on site on the long awaited scheme in mid-2007, after granting of detailed planning consent.
