Oldham Council is looking for a development partner to transform the town centre.
The contract value is between £350m-£550m with an initial 15-year duration.
The project is set to deliver 2,000 new homes on eight sites within the council’s ownership.
The potential redevelopment locations include Oldham Civic Centre, which will be freed up when Oldham Council staff relocate into the Spindles Town Square shopping centre. The site could see the development of between 400 and 600 homes.
In addition, the former Oldham Magistrates’ Court site provides a potential capacity for 125 to 225 homes, while a further 175 to 250 apartments could be built at the former Oldham Leisure Centre site, which sits adjacent a planned new town centre park.
A further five locations across the town centre are currently being identified, including the potential redevelopment of Tommyfield Market, which will also relocate into the new-look Spindles, unlocking the land alongside the new Jubilee Park.
Amanda Chadderton, the leader of Oldham Council, said: “We want to work with a partner who shares our drive and vision for Oldham – the opportunity is there, and we want you to be a part of it.”
