Oldham metropolitan borough council is seeking a developer for a potential 500,000 sq ft office scheme fronting the M60 in Greater Manchester.
The local authority has launched a search for a development partner for a first phase of 50,000 sq ft on a 3.4-acre site at Hollinwood, off junction 22 of the M60.
The selected developer is likely to be appointed to deliver a much bigger scheme on up to 25 acres of surrounding land, much of which is currently council-owned.
The site, Hollinwood Business District, is located on the A62, 6 miles from central Manchester. It has been the subject of a council- and English Partnerships-commissioned masterplan by Roger Tym & Partners.
The council said the 3.4-acre site formed part of its continuing regeneration of the borough and was the first phase in the planned creation of a “significant economic hub”.
It said: “We have embarked upon an ambitious land assembly programme and have successfully acquired sites within the junction area. We envisage that these sites, in addition to any further land that may be assembled, will be brought forward for development during the next 10-15 years.”
Bids for phase one of the project are due on 2 May. A shortlist of four developers will be drawn up over the summer.
