Oliver doubles up with Barbecoa

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is to open his second Barbecoa restaurant in London after agreeing a lease with the Crown Estate.

Oliver will open a 9,000 sq ft restaurant at at 194–196 Piccadilly, W1, in late 2015. It will accommodate more than 300 guests over two floors.

The Crown Estate is investing £500m in the St James’s area. Since the investment programme began in 2010, seven new restaurants have been established in the area including Café Murano and Villandry, the West End offerings of Angela Hartnett and Philippe Le Roux respectively, as well as San Carlo Group’s Cichetti and Chop Shop, the first overseas venture from the US-based Altamarea Group.

Along with its joint venture partner Oxford Properties, the Crown Estate is on site at St James’s Market, a £320m redevelopment which will create offices, restaurant and shops.

Davis Coffer Lyons acted for The Crown Estate.
