Olympicopolis plan to get £45m from private investors

London mayor Boris Johnson’s Olympicopolis plan has been promised £45m in funded from private investors, to add to the £141m of public funding already pledged by Chancellor George Osborne.

The Foundation for FutureLondon is seeking a total of £180m in funding for the project, which could see Sadler’s Wells, the Smithsonian Institute and the V&A represented at the Olympic site.

Building work on the site is expected to begin in 2018, and is due to be completed in 2022. Estimates put the total cost of the project at £850m.
