ICL has recently launched Omnia Estate, a PC-based system which, the firm asserts, “is designed to aid the property selling process”. Intended to help negotiators in building client relationships and to enhance management control, one hopes that they have more luck with sales than most house vendors are experiencing!
Omnia Estate enables full-colour photographs to be captured on the system in electronic form and output on a full-colour graphics display. A user may browse through the pictures, select those preferred and send them to all the appropriate branches within a network. A key feature of ICL’s product is the Windows application which fronts a flexible applicant and property database, including a matching capability that gives negotiators the ability to respond quickly and accurately to client specifications. Also, the architecture of the system allows integration with other systems such as financial counselling and central accounting. Technically, this is achieved by the use of Windows 3 and Open Framework, ICL’s blueprint for developing open systems.
Word processing, listing and printing facilities are included, which permit the printing of mailing lists, labels, graphics and photographs.
Omnia Estate may be purchased as a stand-alone package or alongside ICL’s Omnia Branch. This latter system is designed to address all major areas of branch operations, with PC-based workstations and server architecture. It runs on the industry standard operating systems, MS-DOS, OS/2 and Windows 3 in conjunction with a local area network (LAN) manager.
