On the regions

3 August 2010 Leeds office agents have finally decided that they’re better off working together, and have set up a forum to collate and release the city’s quarterly office market figures.

Agents taking part in the forum are: CB Richard Ellis, Sanderson Weatherall, Jones Lang LaSalle, BNP Paribas Real Estate, King Sturge, Knight Frank, Lambert Smith Hampton, Carter Towler, Colliers International, WSB, Ryden and DTZ.

The agents will meet once every three months to sift through the statistics.

Anything that makes the figures more representative of what’s actually going on in the city is to be applauded.

But a plea from a journalist – and, presumably, from anyone else who may be watching the market: please, please, please can you release the figures on time? Office agents’ forums in other parts of the country have been rather more lax.

We were still waiting for fourth-quarter 2009 figures from Manchester in March the following year. The reason? Apparently, North West agents couldn’t agree on a date to gather and approve the figures.

C’mon, you’re not fooling us; we know that Manchester has scored few big deals this year. Your diaries can’t be that full up these days.
