Online shopping boom hitting profits

Shopping on mobile devices is expected to hit £53.6bn by 2025, up from £9.7bn currently, Barclays is forecasting.

Barclays predicts that mobile devices will account for 42% of all retail sales.

However only one in five top 250 retailers around the world say they are able to fulfil cross-channel demand profitably, a report by PwC and JDA shows. The biggest challenge is to meet customer expectations, particularly over next-day delivery.
