Zurich Assurance has received the thumbs up for a new 559,700 sq ft data centre in Park Royal, NW10, from the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation.
The OPDC’s planning committee granted outline planning permission for the development yesterday evening (3 June).
Under the plans, a data centre with ancillary offices and an electrical substation would be built on a 4.6-acre site at Zurich’s Chandos Road trading estate. It also has scope to include around 27,000 sq ft of additional office space.
The firm submitted its proposals last month, with the intention of selling the location to a data centre operator to bring forward its own site. The plans will now be referred to the mayor of London.
Zurich is the second firm to gain approval for a data centre development in the area in recent months. In March, Linden Hill received outline consent from the OPDC for a 269,000 sq ft data centre on North Acton Road, NW10.
