Open-plan offices put a spring in your step

Open-plan offices are good for your health, leading to higher levels of physical activity and lower levels of stress, research suggests.

Workers in open-plan offices were found to be 20% more physically active than workers in cubicles and 32% more active than those in private offices.

Participants in the study by the University of Arizona — 231 employees of the United States government working at four offices — wore heart sensors and activity monitors for three consecutive working days and two nights.
