Bus-builder Optare has signed up for a 140,000 sq ft manufacturing unit in North Yorkshire.
The company is paying a headline rent of £4.50 per sq ft on a 17-year lease for the unit at Evander Properties/Anglesea Capital’s Sherburn Distribution Park in Sherburn in Elmet.
Optare will consolidate three of its factory operations across the north of England under one roof in what will be the first new bus assembly plant to open in the UK for 40 years.
Paul Mack, associate director at DTZ, which acted for the landlord, said: “This latest addition [to Sherburn] further demonstrates the capabilities of the area as a hot spot for manufacturing and distribution within the Yorkshire region.”
