Orange searches for 200,000 sq ft of HQ-style offices in Bristol area

Expanding mobile phone company Orange is searching for 18,580 sq m (200,000 sq ft) of headquarters offices in the Bristol area which will be ready for occupation in 2001.

The company’s 1,500 staff currently occupy 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) in several buildings at Bradley Stoke near the M4-M5 interchange. Its properties there include the 6,038 sq m (65,000 sq ft) Key Point and the 4,459 sq m (48,000 sq ft) James Court.

Orange is believed to prefer north Bristol with possible sites including Crest Nicholson’s Parkway North, Aztec West (where Arlington Securities has 12 acres and Royal Sun Alliance has 13 acres), and Northam Park – a disused health authority site near the M5. The only two sites available in central Bristol are Harbourside and Temple Quay.

Orange has grown by 50% over the last year and last month took the Inland Revenue’s 1,765 sq m (19,000 sq ft) of offices at Key Point. The company has a further short term requirement for 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft).

Orange’s agent is King Sturge.
