Orbit Developments has abandoned plans for 60,000 sq ft (5,570 sq m) of offices as part of its Lowry development at Salford Quays.
Orbit had been expected to develop the offices at the 480,000 sq ft (44,592 sq m) mixed-use scheme, which includes The Designer Outlet Mall, a Warner cinema complex and apartments on a 15-acre (6.1ha) site next to the Lowry Arts Centre. Orbit will now develop car parking and additional apartments instead.
Orbit’s Paul MacLeman said: “The Salford Quays office market is strong, and supply is weak, and we would have liked to develop offices. We needed more car parking to meet demand at the Designer Outlet Mall.”
