Owners of large properties that fail to sell are trying a different tack – dividing them up into smaller units.
Included among them is Jamie Oliver, who has just been given permission to subdivide his 10-bedroom Primrose Hill home into two terraced houses and a basement flat.
The £12m property has been on the market for six months. The two houses could sell for between £5m and £6m, and the basement for £2m, according to estate agents.
