Oxford council’s Strategic Development Control Committee has given its formal support to The Westgate Partnership’s masterplan for the redevelopment of the Westgate area of Oxford.
The Westgate Partnership is a joint venture between Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) and LaSalle Investment Management.
Richard Cable, property development director at CSC, said: “We are delighted that the council has ratified the Westgate masterplan. Yesterday’s decision is a major step forward for our proposals for the Westgate area of Oxford.”
More than 300 responses to the consultation over the regeneration of Oxford’s West End were received.
Those responses are now being reviewed and once that process is complete the Westgate Partnership will draw up a detailed design of the regeneration.
A planning application is to be submitted in summer next year. Construction is due to start in 2006 with completion scheduled for 2009.
