Oxford homes masterplan approved

Oxford city council’s sites and housing masterplan identifying sites for 2,000 new homes, has been approved.

The council’s planning inspector has backed the document, which allocates 63 sites for student accommodation, housing and retail developments.

The masterplan is part of the council’s pledge to build 8,000 houses by 2026.

Councillor Colin Cook, board member for city development, said: “We have been proactive in finding sites for new housing developmen,t which will help to meet the huge housing shortfall in Oxford and at the same time providing on-site renewable energy generation or low-carbon technologies.”

A full council vote on the document will be taken on 18 February.
