The University of Oxford’s Merton College has agreed a joint venture with St Modwen to redevelop 240 acres in Worcester.
St Modwen will act as master developer for Merton College’s site, which has capacity for 1,250 homes and 900,000 sq ft of logistics space.
Development of the space will provide mixed-tenure housing, alongside community and retail facilities, with a primary school and green space.
The site sits between the recently opened Worcester Parkway station and junction 7 of the M5. It forms part of a draft allocation for 10,000 new homes and 124 acres of employment and new town centre in the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
Guy Gusterson, managing director of strategic land and regeneration at St Modwen, said the scheme is an opportunity to “build on our proud history of development in the city”.
The partnership follows Severn Trent’s appointment of St Modwen as development partner for the £400m Cyber Central scheme at the Golden Valley in Cheltenham.
