P&O plans 1,100-acre mixed-use scheme in Wales

P&O Developments has unveiled plans for a 1,100-acre (452ha) scheme at Magor, close to the Severn Crossing in Wales.

Plans submitted to Monmouth council include a 37-acre (15ha) campus for University of Wales College, Newport and a 163-acre (66ha) sports complex.

There are also proposals for 334 acres (135ha) of housing, more than 222 acres (90ha) of research & development and B1 office space, and 99 acres (40ha) of light industry.

P&O’s managing director, William Edgerley, said: “The idea is to redevelop this gateway site to Wales and replace a fairly rundown area with something that is visually exciting and provides opportunity for employment and learning.”

Cardiff-based HLN is the architect on the scheme.
