Two former churches are among 170 lots in SDL Property Auctions’ 29 September catalogue.
In Leicestershire, the former Worthington Methodist Church, a detached Grade II listed building, is being offered with immediate vacant possession. With a guide price of just £10,000+ plus fees in partnership with Gadsby Nichols, it is expected to prove popular.
Managing director and auctioneer Andrew Parker said: “This chapel has a rich history, originally being built in 1820. There is still an appetite for church conversion properties in the market, so this offers a great deal of potential for the buyer to create a truly unique property. Any potential conversion is subject to the necessary planning consents being obtained, but it will be exciting to see where this reaches on auction day. It’s also fantastic to continue our partnership with Gadsby Nichols through this sale.”
Across the border in Derbyshire, the former Zion Methodist Church in South Normanton (pictured) is being offered in partnership with Gadsby Nichols. Built in the late 1800s, it was then extended in the 1930s to provide additional assembly space, which now extends to a total of 5,005 sq ft. It is being offered with a guide price of £270,000+ plus fees.
Other properties going under the hammer include:
- 80a Oxford Road in Fleetwood, a tenanted investment property in the Lancashire town. The property is currently let on an AST agreement for £575pcm, equalling a 9.86% yield of its guide price of £70,000+ plus fees.
- Scarsdale House Farm in Derbyshire, a small holding with a derelict farm house and brick-built outbuildings. Planning permission was granted in the 1980s for five single building plots, subject to the demolition of the existing buildings. It is being offered with a guide price of £350,000+ plus fees.
- In Stapleford, Nottinghamshire is a refurbishment project at 22 Edward Street. A detached house in a desirable location, the property benefits from double glazing throughout as well as gas central heating. It is being offered with a guide price of £135,000+ plus fees.
The September National Property Auction will feature a range of homes, apartments, commercial properties and land, among other lots.
