Palmer moves into venture capital

A new venture capital company specialising in property has been launched this week by the former head of Lambert Smith Hampton and a senior lawyer from the disbanded firm of Frere Cholmeley Bischoff.

Palmer Capital Partners is chaired by Ray Palmer, who left LSH in 1992 and founded a small property development business. He is now joined by Christopher Digby-Bell, Frere’s former senior property partner.

The Mayfair-based business now includes the majority shareholdings held by Ray Palmer in Wrenbridge and Frontier Estates. The new business has an investment programme with a capital value of over £200m.

Digby-Bell said that the new firm had £20m in capital and was seeking to invest in two or three ventures in the Thames Valley, Kent and Sussex. The company is looking to take a majority stake in small firms with two or more partners in their 30s. “Our aim is to build the company into the most active venture capital house.”
