Parcelforce is to open a £100m distribution centre in Coventry, West Midlands in 1999. It will be the biggest distribution centre in Europe. But it could result in jobs being axed at other centres in Birmingham, West Midlands and Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, over the next three years.
St Merryn Meat is taking on a new £25m factory in Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales. It had considered a site in northern France. Merthyr Tydfil was chosen because of good road links.
Bisley Office Equipment is expanding its Newport, South Wales factory at a cost of £10m.
