Partners plan Woking regen

Bandstand Square Developments, the joint venture between Moyallen, Surrey county council and Woking council, has launched a public consultation for its plans for the 125,000 sq ft development of Victoria Square in Woking.

The proposed scheme will comprise a 60,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer store, a new Boots shop, plus a four-star hotel with conference facilities, spa and gym, flats, additional car parking, and two new public plazas.

The Victoria Square development site will cover the former Woking Market, the former Post Office, Globe House, Woking Fire Station, Bandstand Square civic space, a number of existing shops, and some of the surrounding road network.

The public exhibition will take place from September 12 to 14, and the plans will remain on display until September 27.

Moyallen also owns the town centre shopping centre, Peacocks.

Councillor John Kingsbury, leader of Woking council, said: “These exciting redevelopment proposals to create Victoria Square will positively transform this part of Woking town centre and deliver a high-quality mixed-use development anchored by Marks & Spencer. It will include a number of improvements that will benefit local people as well as attracting important investment into the town.”
